Mgr. Matěj Valošek is pursuing a PhD in Asian history and culture at Charles University, Czech Republic. He has completed a master’s degree in Korean Studies and a bachelor’s degree in the same field. Matěj’s academic journey has been extensive. He has pursued various courses to advance his knowledge in his field of study. Matěj is working on his PhD project, which focuses on the Korean War as a phenomenon between myth and propaganda. His research interests include depicting the Korean War in the contemporary Czechoslovak press, the narrative of the child victim in totalitarian discourse, propaganda theory and the DPRK, and the female heroine in North Korean pre-emancipation prose.

His work will specifically delve into the realms of literature and translations, examining the dynamic interplay between the two languages and the resulting impact on cultural understanding.
