We are delighted to announce Prof. Ph.D. Miriam Löwensteinová, Ph.D., as the project director for our research project that explores the intricate historical ties between Czechoslovakia and the Korean Peninsula during the Cold War. As a distinguished scholar in Korean Studies with an extensive background in research and teaching, Prof. Löwensteinová is an exemplary choice to guide this academic pursuit. Since 2004, Prof. Löwensteinová has been the head of the Seminar of Korean Studies at the Institute of East Asian Studies, Charles University in Prague. Her academic expertise encompasses various aspects of Korean literature, history, and culture, and she has authored numerous noteworthy publications on these subjects. Prof. Löwensteinová has also directed grants from the Academy of Korean Studies and held visiting professorships at several prestigious international institutions.

In the context of the Czechoslovakia-Korean Peninsula relations project, Prof. Löwensteinová will investigate cultural exchanges between Czechoslovakia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). Her work will specifically delve into the realms of literature and translations, examining the dynamic interplay between the two languages and the resulting impact on cultural understanding.
