Assistant professor at Department of Korea at Jagiellonian University
Dr. Marek Hańderek is an assistant professor at the Institute of the Middle and Far East at Jagiellonian University. He earned his Ph.D. in humanities from the Faculty of History at Jagiellonian University in April 2018. Additionally, he completed postgraduate studies in national security at the Academy of National Defence (now the War Studies University). Dr. Hańderek is the author of a monograph and is currently preparing a book on Poland’s involvement in the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission in Korea during the Cold War, utilizing archival materials from Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States, and the United Kingdom. He collaborates with the “North Korea International Documentation Project” at the Wilson Center in Washington, D.C. His research interests include the Cold War in East Asia, relations between Eastern Europe and East Asia, contemporary Korean history, and geopolitics.
